Description |
A paper describing Frederic Leopold's Wood Duck nesting project which was later presented at Wood Duck Management and Research: A Symposium which was held on December 8-9, 1965. The paper covers several topics including the following: nest site selection, egg laying, predatory animals, egg incubation, hatching and departure of the ducklings, and how to handle orphaned ducklings. A table for the years 1943-1965 listing the number of nesting boxes available and used, the number of eggs laid and hatched, and the number of nests destroyed by predators is also included. |
