Other observers include Mark Hartman, Joe Cassidy, Mary Johnson, Don McDonnel, Babs Padelford, and Bruce Wetteroth. | Elimination of similar species: Good size grebe, much larger than neon(?) by Pied-billed. Swimming, the body was a little shorter than that of a Common Merganser. | The original documentation form event lasted from 07:45:00/08:00:00. |

Viewing Conditions: 7:45 am. We saw it for 15 minutes or so. We left finally but bird was still there. Bird swam as close as 200 yds & closer. 20 & 25x telescopes, plus 7x & 8x binoculars. We took notes & I drew the picture traced above while bird still visible. Bird straight west of us. Sunny. Light wind. Perfect viewing conditions. |
