Description Heronry reconnaissance, Mississippi River, April 17, 1984, reported numbers of nests seen there for Great Blue Herons between Skunk Slough, Iowa, and Eagle Point, Iowa. The most nests were at Running Slough. Other birds sighted were Double-crested Cormorants and Great Egrets, although there was a handwritten note "Trip a bit early for Egrets to be incubating." The survey was flown by nongame biologist David Newhouse with two wildlife biologists, Bill Aspelmeier and Bill Ohde, and a pilot, Darryl Miller. This item was used as supporting documentation for the Iowa Ornithologists’ Union Quarterly field report of spring 1984.
