Letters from Nicholas S. Halmi to Vernon M. Kleen regarding birds he observed in the fall and summer of 1973. One letter was about birds observed during summer 1973 near Iowa City. The other letter, dated November 20, 1973, was about birds observed during the fall of 1973 at Coralville Reservoir. This letter noted the following birds that the author regarded as rare: Willets, Stilt Sandpipers, Sanderlings, and Western Sandpipers. These items were used as supporting documentation for the Iowa Ornithologists’ Union Quarterly field report of fall 1973.
