I was well aware of this, and like other committee members, I believed that they were likely present in this area. I can only say that I was watching the birds when I heard them, which eliminates the possibility that they were young American Crows. I would not want to rely on the morphologic features. Naisbitt. | Elimination of similar species: [...] This cap was quite noticeable & large (much larger than a catbird's cap). The bird seemed to be a little larger than a catbird (I have a pair nesting in my yard to [sic] I seem them a lot) and not as large as a robin. [...] He put me in mind very much of a catbird in size and contours. | The original documentation form event lasted around "evenings and 1 morning" from around May 22 to the first week of June 1990.

Grassy field adjacent to narrow drainage ditch (mostly dry) with brush piled along the side. Some small trees (mostly willows) bordered ditch

Another observer was John Rutenbeck. | Elimination of similar species: Great-tailed grackle - as described. [...] Two things were apparent: On profile the head and particularly the bill were that of an ani and not of a grackle. [...] One other note - When I first flushed the bird it made a startled cry. This cry was very similar, if not identical to the last part of the Groove-billed Ani call on Peterson's Field Guide to Western Birds record. Conclusion ani sp. probably a Groove-Billed | The original documentation form event lasted from 14:45:00/15:30:00 and 15:45:00/16:15:00.

Bushes, deciduous trees, pines, firs, grass, brush pills in side yard Lee side of house. Feeding with pine siskins, house finch, goldfinch at Finch Feeder filled with niger/seed + sunflower hearts

But just by looking at the two side by side, the difference overall was very apparent. Looked as tho dusted in white powder, much more white area (e.g. rump + breast + undertail). Not as much streaking. Smaller red cap. | The original documentation form event began around 15:30:00.
