He noted that Buff-breasted Sandpipers were less than casual during spring migration, and how to identify them by their flight. Robert I. Cecil letter to Thomas H. Kent was regarding bird sightings, Keokuk, Iowa, spring 1984. Species seen near Keokuk and marked with a red check mark were a Bald Eagle, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Northern Oriole, Nighthawks, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Ring-billed Gull and Evening Grosbeaks. Also check-marked were Chimney Swifts seen at Ottumwa and a Broad-Winged Hawk near Montrose. This item was used as supporting documentation for the Iowa Ornithologists' Union Quarterly field report of spring 1984.
