Our back yard, which is kept closely mowed, surrounded by many different kinds of trees and bushes. I keep 4 ground waterers filled at all times and had my garden hose dripping into one of them. He was feeding close to our ground feeders, but not actually in them.

I was well aware of this, and like other committee members, I believed that they were likely present in this area. I can only say that I was watching the birds when I heard them, which eliminates the possibility that they were young American Crows. I would not want to rely on the morphologic features. I was struck by the neat appearance and greater activity of these particular birds and by the fact that they were not associating with the flock of house sparrows near the bird feeders. Ringed Turtle Dove is generally lighter, lacks the obvious white line above the black neckline, and in flight does not show the two-toned undertail nor three-toned upperwing.
