The bird I saw lacked the pale coloration and slim appearance of Ash-throated. I feel that the bright yellow belly, contrasting with the dark gray chest eliminates Ash-throated. When the two species flew, it was easy to separate the light tan breast of the Blue-winged Teal from the rusty-red breast of the Cinnamon Teal.
