Iowa Birdline update for October 1, 1990. Highlights of the update include the sighting of a Yellow Rail and the continued presence of two Scissor-tailed Flycatchers. Also of note was the large number of passerine migrants entering the state, including Blue Jays, Brown Creepers, Brown Thrashers, Indigo Buntings, and Yellow-rumped Warblers. Other interesting observations included early Lapland Longspurs and Red-breasted Mergansers as well as a sighting of an estimated 2400 Chimney Swifts.

Email of the Iowa Birdline update for October 22, 1990. Highlights of the update include the continued presence of a California Gull, a Mute Swan, and a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. Also of note was the large numbers of waterfowl spreading across the state. Other interesting observations were of Carolina Wrens, a Short-eared Owl, and numerous Sparrow species, including a Harris' and a Le Conte's
