An essay written by Walter Rosene reporting the findings from a study of nesting Great Horned Owls that he and Bob Walker completed over the course of seven years from 1934-1939. Included in the report are the outcomes from the eggs that were laid and brooded each year, the record of the food found in the nest, and the behavior of the owls. In the seven year study of this particular nesting site, six young birds grew to maturity and left the nest, and all of them were banded.

A paper describing the variety of food consumed by birds, including seeds, fruits, insects, rodents, and fish, and how the food habits of birds are beneficial to humans in keeping pest populations under control. Also includes details on the feeding of young by adult birds as well as information on how birds detect and gather the food necessary for growth and maintenance of the high body temperature that birds require to function.
