The mostly handwritten volume contains Leopold's detailed notes on the nesting habits of Wood Ducks, including the following: nest site selection, egg laying, incubation, hatching, and departure from the nest. Also included in this volume are a few hand-drawn illustrations, newspaper clippings and a twelve page photocopied article from volume 53 of The Condor titled "A study of nesting Wood Ducks in Iowa" written by Leopold.
