Notes for the Iowa Birdline update for September 26-30, 1988. Highlights of the update include sightings of two rare birds, a Magnificent Frigatebird and a Pomarine Jaeger. Also of note were the observations of numerous American White Pelicans and Ospreys as well as sightings of several species of Hawks, Warblers, and shorebirds.

Iowa Birdline update for September 24, 1990. Highlights of the update include the sighting of a Yellow Rail and the continued presence of a California Gull. Also of note was the occurrence of a strong cold front that sent most of the less hardy Warblers south of the state while ushering in a few winter birds. Other interesting observations included a late male Scarlet Tanager, the first Dark-eyed Junco of the fall, 100 American White Pelicans, 125 Great Blue Herons, and 1000 Double-crested Cormorants.

Email for the Iowa Birdline update for September 21, 1992. Highlights of the update include sightings of a Red Phalarope, Yellow Rail and a road-killed Burrowing Owl. Also included are handwritten notes for the next week’s update with sightings of as many as 227 raptors counted over a five-day period in Johnson County. The majority of the raptors consisted of Broad-winged Hawks.
