Included with the lecture notes is a flier that was sent to Iowa Legislators in 1959 urging a no vote on a measure to create a Mourning Dove hunting season.

Birds with young or acting territorial were a Brown Creeper on Huron Island, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and Scarlet Tanagers near Elkader, a Northern Mockingbird at Big Sand Mound Nature Preserve, and Orchard Orioles at Nye Cemetery.
