A list of the most regularly observed bird species found in Story County as well as at Ledges State Park and in Greene County compiled by John Faaborg and Jim Rod, March 1970. Included is a list of the better birding locations found in Story, Boone, Greene, and Hamilton Counties including directions to the habitats as well as species commonly located at each destination. Also of note is a chart for the months of March, April, and May which shows the average arrival dates of common Iowa spring migrant birds.

Also of note was the first fall report of a Red-breasted Nuthatch as well as observations of numerous Warbler species, including Mourning and Golden-winged. Also included are handwritten notes for the next week's update with sightings of a Hooded Warbler, a White-eyed Vireo, and a Le Conte's Sparrow.

Iowa RBA update for January 6, 1997. Highlights of the update include sightings of a Pinyon Jay, a Varied Thrush, three Long-tailed Ducks, a first-year Black-legged Kittiwake, a first-year Mew Gull, and a first-year Thayer's Gull. Also included is an update to the Iowa RBA with a report of the continued presence of an Evening Grosbeak and a sighting of two Long-eared Owls.

Also of note were the observations of a Worm-eating Warbler, three Little Blue Herons, and nesting Barn Owls.
