Iowa RBA update for October 27, 1997. Highlights of the update include the continuation of the Eurasian Collared Doves as well as sightings of two immature Surf Scoters, a Red Crossbill, and a second year Lesser Black-backed Gull. Also of note were state wide reports of Pine Siskins after a yearlong absence as well as large numbers of Purple Finches and Red-breasted Nuthatches. Also included are handwritten notes for the next week's update with sightings of a female White-winged Crossbill, an estimated one thousand Tundra Swans, and 158 raptors observed on a hawk watch.

Iowa RBA update for October 7, 1996. Highlights of the update include sightings of two Sabine's Gulls in northwest Iowa and the early appearance of a Thayer's Gull in the southeast part of the state. Also of note were the number of migrants moving into the state, including Sparrows, Kinglets, and late Warblers. Also included are handwritten notes for the next week's update with sightings of a female Surf Scoter and American Pipits.

Iowa RBA update for September 23-25, 1996. Highlights of the update include sightings of a Yellow Rail and a Marbled Godwit. Other interesting observations from and IOU field trip include Le Conte's Sparrows, Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrows, a Peregrine Falcon, a Merlin, and a Hen Harrier. Also of note were the sightings of 12 species of shorebirds at Union Slough National Wildlife Refuge and a Red-breasted Nuthatch north of Iowa City.
