Iowa Birdline update for September 24, 1990. Highlights of the update include the sighting of a Yellow Rail and the continued presence of a California Gull. Also of note was the occurrence of a strong cold front that sent most of the less hardy Warblers south of the state while ushering in a few winter birds. Other interesting observations included a late male Scarlet Tanager, the first Dark-eyed Junco of the fall, 100 American White Pelicans, 125 Great Blue Herons, and 1000 Double-crested Cormorants.

Iowa Birdline update for October 8, 1990. Highlights of the update include the continued presence of a California Gull, a Yellow Rail, and a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. Also of note were sightings of a very late Black Tern, a female Black-throated Blue Warbler, and numerous shorebirds and waterfowl. Also included is an update on the sighting of two rare birds, a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper and a Mew Gull.

Notes for the Iowa Birdline update for October 15, 1990. Highlights of the notes include the sightings of a Mew Gull and a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper as well as the continued presence of a California Gull and a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. Also of note was a one day observation of 81 total species, including 14 shorebird species at Coralville Lake. Others interesting sightings were of 10,000 Tree Swallows and 12 species of sparrows, including a Le Conte's and a Lincoln's.
