A report compiling the discoveries from 35 years of nesting Wood Duck studies written by Frederic Leopold. The typewritten report details Leopold's findings on the nesting habits of Wood Ducks, including the following: nest site selection, Wood Duck nesting boxes, mating, egg laying, incubation, hatching, departure from the nest, travel of ducklings to water, predatory animals, and maintenance of the Wood Duck nest boxes. A table of 35 years of statistics based on over 10,000 observations is included at the end of the report.

Highlights of the two updates include the continued presence of a Pinyon Jay and sightings of Great Gray Owls, a Ferruginous Hawk, Snowy Owls, a Prairie Falcon, and Red Crossbills. Also included are additional brief updates from February 12, 15, and 19, 1997, with more details on the Great Gray Owl and Ferruginous Hawk as well as sightings of Greater Scaup, a Peregrine Falcon, and Pine Siskins.

Iowa RBA update for January 20, 1997. Highlights of the update include sightings of an unusually large number of Snow Bunting flocks as well as a Pinyon Jay, an Evening Grosbeak, and a Prairie Falcon. Also of note were observations of Red Crossbills, a Common Redpoll, Snowy Owls, and a Long-tailed Duck. Also included are handwritten notes for the next week's update with sightings of a Common Loon and eight species of waterfowl.
