Black noted the spectacular change in the number of migratory species since Lake Red Rock was filled in 1969. She discussed various bird sightings at the lake, including that of a Great Blue Heron rookery and vulture roosts. It was preceded by his June 1, 1971 cover letter to Vernon Kleen saying "Here is the info for Field Notes," and reporting other people who may provide information. Some parts are underlined in blue, but these bird names were circled or starred: Cattle Egret, Broad-winged Hawk, Rough-legged Hawk, Osprey, Worm-eating Warbler, and Black-throated Blue Warbler.
