He indicated that different ages of Grasshopper and Henslow's Sparrows could be mistaken for each other. The lack of prominate [sic] streaking on the breast and flanks on this bird may indicate an adult Grasshopper. June-July Iowa observations, Peter C. Petersen, 1984, were made with four other observers. Twenty-one species were listed with dates, number, locations, and comments. Birds with young or acting territorial were a Brown Creeper on Huron Island, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and Scarlet Tanagers near Elkader, a Northern Mockingbird at Big Sand Mound Nature Preserve, and Orchard Orioles at Nye Cemetery.
