An article written by Frederic Leopold that describes how to prepare for the spring return of nesting Wood Ducks and how to observe and track activity in the Wood Duck houses. Leopold also discusses the topic of shortening the open water fowl hunting season to limit the number of breeding ducks that are killed each year. The article was possibly published in the Burlington Hawkeye newspaper.

An essay written by Walter Rosene reporting the findings from a study of nesting Great Horned Owls that he and Bob Walker completed over the course of seven years from 1934-1939. Included in the report are the outcomes from the eggs that were laid and brooded each year, the record of the food found in the nest, and the behavior of the owls. In the seven year study of this particular nesting site, six young birds grew to maturity and left the nest, and all of them were banded.
