Highlights of the update include the sightings of a Mew Gull and a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper as well as the continued presence of a California Gull and a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. Also of note was a one day observation of 81 total species, including 14 shorebird species at Coralville Lake. Others interesting sightings were of 10,000 Tree Swallows and 12 species of sparrows, including a Le Conte's and a Lincoln's.

Emails for the Iowa Birdline update for December 19, 1990-January 2, 1991. Highlights of the updates include the continued presence of an Ivory Gull, a Townsend's Solitaire, a Black-legged Kittiwake, and Eurasian Tree Sparrows. Also of note were sightings of Red Crossbills, a Varied Thrush, a Northern Mockingbird, and 44 Great Horned Owls. Also included are the results from several Christmas bird counts from around the state.

Three emails from Harr to Dinsmore discuss the observations of a Spotted Towhee, a Burrowing Owl and a late Osprey nest. The email from Harr to the IA-BIRD mailing list verifies the Burrowing Owl report near Rock Rapids. This item was used as supporting documentation for the Iowa Ornithologists' Union Quarterly field report of summer 2000.
