Also of note were several reports of Purple Finches and Pine Siskins in the northern part of the state, and Red-breasted Nuthatches being reported state wide. Also included are handwritten notes for the next week's update with sightings of Lark Buntings and a Red-necked Phalarope.

Summary of the Iowa Birdline update for September 15-November 15, 1997. Highlights of the update include a sighting of a large flock of Lark Buntings in September and a continued presence of Eurasian Collared Doves throughout the fall. Other interesting observations of note were a Pacific Loon sighting in October, several unusual gull reports in October and November, and a late Ruby-throated Hummingbird spotted at a feeder in November.

Iowa RBA update for August 6, 1996. Highlights of the update include a continued invasion of Red Crossbills with 17 additional reports from around the state as well as sightings of a Mississippi Kite and Little Blue Herons. Also included are handwritten notes for the next week's update with continued reports of Red Crossbills and numerous sightings of shorebirds, including Black-bellied Plovers, Stilt Sandpipers, and Ruddy Turnstones.
