Highlights of the update include the first of the Christmas bird counts and the outstanding birds that were observed, including a Say's Phoebe, a Black-legged Kittiwake, a Bohemian Waxwing, an adult male White-winged Scoter, Surf Scoters, and three Long-tailed Ducks. Also of note were several species of Gulls, including an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull, a first winter Great Black-backed Gull, three first winter Thayer's Gulls, and four Glaucous Gulls. Email of the Iowa Birdline update for August 29, 1994. Highlights of the update include the continued presence of shorebirds where there was suitable habitat as well as sightings of a Black-headed Gull, King Rail, Western Grebe, Snowy Egret, and Pacific Loon. Other interesting observations were of 225 American White Pelicans, Buff-Breasted Sandpipers in multiple locations, and numerous Warbler species.

Notes for the Iowa Birdline update for August 29, 1988. Highlights of the update include several excellent sightings from Forneys Lake, including six Ibis species, 162 Great Blue Herons, 58 Great Egrets, 14 Snowy Egrets, 3 American Avocets, 2 Bald Eagles, Ring-billed Gulls, and Franklin's Gulls. Also abundant during the week were Warblers, with 14 species seen in central Iowa and 7 species seen in the Iowa City area.
