Winter of 1974-75, Red Rock area and Pleasantville, Iowa field notes were submitted by Gladys Black along with a cover letter to Vernon M. Kleen dated March 19, 1975, a newspaper article and a map. The article was one she wrote for the Des Moines Register called "Reports two Snowy Owls seen in central Iowa," and the map showed the number of Snowy Owl observations in Iowa counties, November 1974-March 1975. The letter summarized the findings on Snowy Owls from responses to the newspaper article, and the impact of a blizzard January 10-11 in northwest Iowa that killed many birds and livestock. This item was used as supporting documentation for the Iowa Ornithologists’ Union Quarterly field report of winter 1974-1975.

Dinsmore regarding weather, abundant water-living birds, and March kills of birds, August 2, 1984. Nestings of Least Terns and Piping Plovers at the IPL ponds were described in detail with seven other observers, and many herons were seen near the Missouri River in Fremont County. Counts of House Sparrows were shown to decrease as livestock operations decreased, 1978-1984. The report notes the cool, wet fall season, discusses the good migrations of the season and the unusually large number of sightings of rare water birds, mostly at Saylorville Lake. Included with the report are two letters from Carl J. Bendorf to Bruce Peterjohn. The letter dated December 15, 1986, explains the presence of typesetting marks on the included fall report manuscript and notes the interesting fall season in Iowa. The letter dated December 23, 1986, notes two late reports, of a King Eider and a Swainson's Hawk, and mentions winter sightings.
