Iowa Birdline update for October 8, 1990. Highlights of the update include the continued presence of a California Gull, a Yellow Rail, and a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. Also of note were sightings of a very late Black Tern, a female Black-throated Blue Warbler, and numerous shorebirds and waterfowl. Also included is an update on the sighting of two rare birds, a Sharp-tailed Sandpiper and a Mew Gull.

Highlights of the two updates include the continued presence of a Pinyon Jay as well as sightings of a first year Iceland Gull and an adult Snowy Owl. Also of note were the observations of early shorebird and passerine migrants in addition to a drake Cinnamon Teal and a Smith's Longspur. Also included are handwritten notes for the next week's update with sightings of a Northern Mockingbird and a Spotted Towhee.

The newsletter of the Big Bluestem Audubon Society (Ames, Iowa), Volume 35, Number 1, September/October 1999. Highlights of the newsletter include an article about the renaming of the Colo Ponds to the Colo Bogs Wetland Complex and the many species of waterfowl that took up residence in the new habitat, the results of the society's Birdathon, a new column "Cyber Birding: Surf'n the Net with Paul (Bystrak) and Kevin (Healy) featuring ways the internet can enhance the birding experience, and an article on an Osprey reintroduction program conducted by the MacBride Raptor Project. Email of the Iowa Birdline update for October 31, 1994. Highlights of the update include sightings of White-winged Scoters, Black Scoters, a Lesser Black-backed Gull, a Hudsonian Godwit, a Laughing Gull, and Sandhill Cranes. The most evident migrants seen across the Iowa countryside were Red-tailed Hawks and Sparrows. Also included are handwritten notes for the next week's update with sightings of Scoters and Grebes.
