Notes for the Iowa Birdline update for September 19, 1988. Highlights of the update include a recap of sightings from the fall IOU meeting, including a flyover Black-billed Magpie, nine raptor species, and a variety of Warblers for a total of 106 species seen. Also of note from around the state were observations of two rarely seen birds, a Western Tanager and a Prairie Falcon. In addition, sightings of several hundred American White Pelicans, 62 Caspian Terns, and an immature Black-crowned Night Heron were also reported.

Highlights of the update include exceptional sightings of a Pygmy Nuthatch, a Swallow-tailed Kite, a juvenile Parasitic Jaeger, and a family of three Whopping Cranes. Also of note was the extensive number and variety of fall gull sightings that were seen throughout the state. A fall Hawk watch resulted in some interesting observations, including 38 Mississippi Kites as well as large numbers of Prairie Falcons, Northern Goshawks, and Golden Eagles.

Summary of the Iowa Birdline update for June 1-November 15, 1992. Highlights of the update include sightings of a pair of birds with only two previous state records, a Lewis's Woodpecker and a female Vermilion Flycatcher were both seen in October. Other interesting observations were sightings of Black-throated Blue Warbler and a Yellow Rail in September at the IOU fall meeting. In addition, the Lake Red Rock area produced many exciting bird sightings, including a juvenile Laughing Gull, a Mississippi Kite, Red-throated Loons, and Pacific Loons.

Other interesting observations of note include an April sighting of Eurasian Wigeons and May sightings of Snowy Plover, Black-necked Stilt, Whimbrel, and Red Knot.

Highlights of the update include sightings of a Marbled Murrelet, Prairie Falcons, a Pine Warbler, Northern Saw-whet Owls, and Common Redpolls. Also of note were the unusual species of gulls that were present from mid-December through mid-February.

Summary of the Iowa Birdline update for November 15, 1992-March 15, 1993. Highlights of the update were November sightings of a Red-necked Grebe and a potential first state record observation of a Western Flycatcher. A pair of Townsend's Solitaries and two neck-banded Trumpeter Swans were present for most of the winter. Also of note was a January sighting of a female Mountain Bluebird.

Highlights of the update were September sightings of a Western Wood Pewee and a Red Phalarope, as well as October sightings of a Groove-billed Ani, a Common Ground Dove, and adult and juvenile Sabine's Gulls. Also of note was the outstanding variety of rarities found at Pleasant Creek State Park in November.
